Disputes and Admin

Disputes & Admin Authority

Tscrow is a Managed Escrow. It is NOT fully decentralized (yet😢). This means that while the custody of funds is decentralized (in smart contracts), the decision making for disputes is centralized (Human Admin).

The Admin's Role

If a deal goes smoothly, the Admin ABSOLUTELY DOES NOTHING. If a user clicks "Dispute", the Admin enters the deal.

What the Admin CAN Do

1

View Evidence

Read the chat history, view uploaded images/videos.

2

Make a Decision

Decide if the Buyer or Seller is right.

3

Direct Funds

Force the Smart Contract to release funds to the Winner.

  • If Buyer wins: Funds go to Buyer's Wallet.

  • If Seller wins: Funds go to Seller's Wallet.

What the Admin CANNOT Do

1

Steal Funds

The Admin cannot transfer deal funds to their own wallet or any random address. The destination addresses are immutable (hardcoded) when the vault is created.

Proof: See the resolveDispute function in our Smart Contract. It only takes a boolean (True/False). It does NOT take an address argument.

2

Edit the Deal

The Admin cannot change the amount, the token, or the participants.

Why Centralized Dispute Resolution?

We chose this model for the Beta phase for two reasons:

  1. Speed: A DAO or Court system takes days or weeks. A human admin can resolve obvious disputes in minutes.

  2. Complexity: Most P2P disputes require human judgment (e.g., "Did this gift card work?", "Is this video proof fake?"). Automated systems cannot easily judge this yet.

The Risk

By using Tscrow, you are ONLY trusting the Fairness of the Tscrow Admin You are NOT trusting us with custody (we CANNOT run away with funds), but you ARE trusting us to make the right call in a dispute.

Dispute outcomes are public for transparency, while user IDs and personal details are never disclosed.
